Mack “Keith” Anderson, 90, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2020 surrounded by his family.
Mr. Anderson retired from Johnston County Public Schools in March 2019 after 20 years of service, at the age of 88. Prior to that Mr. Anderson retired from Burlington Industries after 40 years of service. He had a strong work ethic and was highly respected by his peers and the community.
Mr. Anderson was born in Smithfield to the late Mack Thel and Bettie Anderson. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his wife Linda Whitman Anderson a son, Phillip Keith Anderson, his first wife Barbara Anderson and, brothers, Melvin and Charles Anderson.
A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakland Heights Cemetery in Smithfield. The public may pay their respects to Keith on Tuesday, December 22, from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. The family will not be present during this time.
He is survived by his grandsons, Phillip Keith Anderson II, of Raleigh and Bradley Scott Anderson of Charlotte great-grandchildren, Zane, Emma and Aliene Anderson; step-daughters, Charlotte Truelove (Brad) of Holly Springs, Tammy Summers (Calvin) of Dunn, Step-Son Ricky Moore (Lisa) of Angier, step-grandchildren, Madison Truelove, Dylan Truelove, Kacie Truelove, Jamie Wood, Amy Roberson, Amanda Moore, Mitchell Moore, step-great-grandchildren, Caleb Wood, Hayley Roberson, Cassidy Roberson, Easton Roberson, Sydney Sandy, and Jaxson Moore.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice of Raleigh-Durham, or Johnston County Public Schools.
