Clayton – Mamie Howell Jones, age 77, died Saturday morning in the UNC Johnston Health in Clayton. Born October 16, 1940 in Johnston County to the late Lonnie and Elizabeth Pearl Lee Howell, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Judson Jones on August 4, 2013. Mamie worked as a waitress and hostess in several restaurants in the Clayton and Garner area.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Vicki Medlin officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery at Powhatan Church near Clayton. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
Surviving are her daughter, Bonnie Jones Rhodes and husband Charlie of Clayton; sister, Josephine Capps of Pine Level and two granddaughters, Candy Guerrero (Julia) of Clayton and Shelly Kelly (Shane) of Durham.
