Margaret Spence Canady, 81, daughter of the late Sam and Estelle Spence passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the home she shared with her beloved Sherrill since 1963. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 2:00pm at Hocutt Baptist Church with the interment following at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Canady worked at First Citizens Bank in Clayton for 39 years. She was saved in 1948 and came to Hocutt Memorial Church in September 1964 where she served as the treasurer in the late 60’s and early 70’s, then again in the late 80’s and early 90’s. She loved her Savior and especially reading her scriptures about His life and ministry.
She is survived by her sister, Brenda Stephenson; whom she loved to travel and shop with over the years, especially after they each lost their husbands. She and Sherrill did not have children of their own but was loved by their many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Canady was also preceded in death by her husband, Sherrill Canady who she loved to travel with over their 57 years of marriage; she is also preceded by her brothers, Samuel Spence and Waylon Spence; sisters, Beatrice Tharrington and Christine Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fuel the Mission Fund c/o Hocutt Baptist Church 314 W Horne St. Clayton, NC 27520.
