Marion Whittenton Glover, 88, passed away at Rex Hospital in Raleigh on Thursday, September 27, 2018. He was born in Johnston County on October 27, 1930 to the late George William and Alice Newcomb Glover. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betsy Glover Wiggs and a daughter-in-law, Deborah H. Glover.
The funeral service will be held at Casey Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 12:00 noon with Reverend Dwayne Batten and Reverend Jimmy Earp officiating. The family will receive friends at Casey Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from10:00 am until 12:00 noon. Burial will take place at a later date in Princeton Cemetery.
Mr. Glover was married to Cedessel Evans Glover for 64 years. He was the owner and operator of the Esso Service Station in Goldsboro before becoming an American Optical Lab Tech and working for his son, Dr. Sherill Glover of Princeton. He enjoyed constructing buildings, playing UNO, painting cars, fishing, traveling, and farming. The loves of his life were his grandchildren, and he loved his special canine granddog, Izzy. While serving his country in the Army, he pulled communication lines during the Korean War for 18 months. After serving his country, he went back to Princeton School to finish his education and graduated at the age of 29.
He is survived by his wife, Cedessel Evans Glover of Princeton; sons, Dr. M. Sherill Glover and wife, Robin of Goldsboro, and M. Blake Glover and wife, Susan of Smithfield; sister, Ruth Howell of Goldsboro; and three grandchildren, Hannah Glover Glasesman and husband, Shea of Garner, Daniel Glover and wife, Anna of Waco, Texas, and Molly Glover Weigle and a great granddaughter on the way of Birmingham, Alabama.
