Martha Jane Jones Stephenson, age 89, of Smithfield, passed away on November 8, 2017 at the SECU Hospice House. Born in Johnston County on May 19, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Junius Alton and Nellie Barbour Jones. She was also preceded in death by her brother Nelson Jones and her sister Betty Radford. Her husband was the late Carlie S. Stephenson. Mrs. Stephenson was a longtime member of Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church. She worked alongside her children at Smithfield City Florist for many years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 10, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with burial following in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 PM Friday.
Surviving are her children, Debbie Griffin and husband Jim of Wendell; Jeff Stephenson and Dean Wiggs, both of Smithfield; brothers Bobby Jones of Smithfield, Lynwood Jones and wife Shelby of Oxford; and sister Grace Blackmon and husband Melvin of Smithfield.
