Mrs. Mary Ellen N. Burton, age 76, of 5 Avon Court, Smithfield, died Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Smithfield Manor. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday at First Christian Church in Smithfield and 4:00 PM at Rocky Fork Christian Church in Sanford, NC. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Dr. Ray Miles and Dr. John Browning will officiate.
Mrs. Burton was born on January 29, 1941 in Sanford, NC to the late Roger Norman, Sr. and Mary Tucker Norman. She was preceded in death by her beloved niece, Stephanie Norman Adams. Mrs. Burton was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church in Smithfield.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Dr. Jerry Burton; daughters and son-in-law, Rev. Mary Elizabeth Burton-Williams and husband, Dr. Martin Williams and Jennifer Lynn Burton; grandchildren, Ellen Ruth Williams and Keith Richard Williams; sister, Rebecca M. Adams of Roanoke. VA; brothers, Roger Norman, Jr. of Melbourne, FL, Sam Norman of Pinehurst and Edward Norman of Sanford; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks and other times at 5 Avon Court, Smithfield, NC 27577.
