Smithfield – Mary Eloise Stephenson, age 88, passed away Friday December 6, 2019 at her home in Smithfield. Born in Johnston County December 3, 1931 to the late Ernest Jasper and Marry Evans Stewart. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by husband, Leo Stephenson; Sons, Timothy Leo Stephenson, Timmy Lee Stephenson; Grandson, Paul Woodall; Brothers, Earnest, Sherwood, Bobby, and Roy Stewart; Sister, Edna Allen. A funeral service will be conducted at Smithfield Advent Christian Church 2 PM Tuesday December 10, 2019. The family will receive visitors at the church one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Stephenson is survived by son, Larry Stephenson and wife Karen of Goldsboro; Daughters, Carol Jackson and husband Gary of Autryville, Dianne Lane of Smithfield, Donna Snyder and husband Dwane of Newton Groove; 22 Grandchildren; 40 Great grandchildren; 4 Great great grandchildren; Many nieces and nephews; Brother, Ervin Stewart of Raleigh; Sisters, Shirley Parrish of Smithfield, Barbara West of Wake Forest. Mrs. Stephenson was a member of Advent Christian Church in Smithfield for more than 40 years. She enjoyed dancing and playing the piano.
