Mary Evelyn Peacock Matthews, 85, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 18, 2018 at Premier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville, NC. Mary was born October 14, 1932 in Johnston County to the late James Forest Peacock and Lillian Cobb Peacock. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister and a brother. Funeral services will be held in Casey Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Dennis Pollock officiating. The committal will take place at a later date.
She is survived by sons, Linwood Massengill and wife, Carolyn of Hubert, Terry Vann Matthews and wife, Lynn of Four Oaks; daughter, Jackie Massengill Hales of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Olivia Paige Matthews, Steve Hales and Andrew Hales; step grandchild, Melissa; great grandchildren, Josh, Jordan, Jacob, Jared, Mia and Tyler; and one great great grandchild, Alana.
The family will receive friends on Saturday September 22, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Casey Funeral Home Chapel.
