    Princeton – Mary Lou Hardee Thompson, age 80, died Tuesday morning, November 3, 2020 in WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh. Born June 12, 1940 in Johnston County she was a daughter of the late John Quincy and Mary Alice Hinnant Hardee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph U. Thompson, a sister, Frances Smith.

    Mary Lou was a graduate of Princeton High School and attended Cosmetology School following graduation. She worked as a hairdresser in Goldsboro for several years before she started working at the Woodard Drug Store in Princeton where she handled the accounts receivables and worked behind the counter for 38 years. She was a lifelong, active member of Princeton United Methodist Church where she very involved with the Ladies Circle Meetings.

    A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020 in Princeton Cemetery with Rev. Neal Brantley, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the home, 5509 Massey-Holt Road.

    Surviving are her sons, Joey Thompson, Jr. and wife Bobbi of Four Oaks and Mike Thompson and wife Darlene of Rosewood; and brother, Larry Hardee of Princeton, grandsons, Chris, Robert and Hunter and granddaughter, Megan.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Cures for the Colors, 203 Cox Boulevard, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
