Kenly- Mary Louise Deans Johnson, 82, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Smithfield Manor in Smithfield. Born on November 30, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Provert Lee Deans and Ella Davis Deans.
One of Mary’s favorite hobbies was fishing. Nothing pleased Mary more than feeling the tug of a fish on the other end of her line. Mary also loved spending time in her kitchen. Her family enjoyed Thanksgiving and Christmas time in particular since Mary was in charge of the cooking. If you have ever had Mary’s fried chicken, then you’d understand the excitement had by the family.
At Mary’s request, no formal services will be held.
Mary is survived by her son, Curtis Johnson and wife Sherri of Kenly; grandson, Alex Johnson of Kenly; sister, Sue Jones of Micro, as well as many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Preston Johnson; son, Dell Johnson, as well as three sisters and one brother.
