Mary Louise Murphy, age 88, died Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Wake Medical Center. She is now joined with her husband Charles, as well as many family and friends who proceeded her in death including their three sons, Howard, Steve and Donnie.
Louise leaves behind her devoted daughter, Nancy Murphy and her partner Joy Fulford; as well as her special grandson, Steven Murphy and his wife Monica; and dear great granddaughters, Sara and Ella. She also leaves behind daughter-in-law, Rose Malloy and her husband Leigh; one sister, Myrtle Meachum; two sister-in-laws, Becky Craven and Alice Murphy; special nephew, Raeford Murphy and his wife JoAnn; and many close nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
Louise was a helper throughout her life taking care of her mother and father-in-law, Ora and Gaston Murphy.
Louise faced hardships and trials head on and helped others around her. She would bake cakes and pies and share with family and friends. She enjoyed working in her yard and having beautiful flowers as long as she was able to do so.
Louise and Charles farmed for years and then she worked at Princeton Manufacturing for 20 years as well as the Smithfield Herald for 20 years.
A private graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, June 13, 2020 in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to come pay their respects at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
A very special thanks goes to Dr. Renee Watson for her love and support through the years, in Louise’s last two weeks and right up until the end. She helped oversee and manage Louise’s health. Her dedication and devotion to Louise and Nancy are invaluable.
