Smithfield – Mary O’dell Dail Stanley, age 88, died Saturday morning, April 22, 2017 in the SECU Hospice House. Born August 10, 1928 in Johnston County to the late Charles Cleveland and Lela Dail, she was the widow of James Earl “Jim” Stanley. Mary was a retired teacher’s assistant in Wilson’s Mills after almost 15 years and was a member of the Smithfield Advent Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Tart officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. just prior to the service. A private burial will be in Selma Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are her son, Jay Stanley of Smithfield; daughter, Sandra Cummings and husband Jim of Raleigh; sister, Mabel Futch of Selma; five grandchildren, Cooper Stanley, MacKenzie Stanley, Lee Horton, Hugh Horton and Kevin Cummings and three great grandchildren, Nicole Ferrell, Michael Taylor and Archer Horton.
