Fuquay – Mary Virginia Roberts Leech, age 99, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Universal Health Care in Fuquay-Varina. Born March 5, 1918 in Johnston County to the late William Bryan “Billy” and Rosa Lee Winfrey Roberts, she was the widow of James Russell Leech and was preceded in death by a son, Albert Wilson Leech in 1963 and sisters, Lillian Talton, Rosa Lee Jones, Annie Mae Pemberton and brother William Roberts.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Rev. Rebecca Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. just prior to the service.
Surviving are her children, James Kenneth Leech and wife Vicki of Amarillo, TX, Mary Virginia (Sue) Pope of Statesville, Richard H. Leech and wife Eleanora of Killeen, TX, Ann L. Watson and husband Danny of Black Creek and Margaret Godwin and husband James of Apex; sister, Dorothy Bayles of Fuquay-Varina; six grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
