Melissa Reneè Gandy

    Selma – Melissa Reneè Aldred Gandy, age 49, passed away at Wake Med Hospital on September 8, 2021. Born on December 17, 1971 at Camp Lejeune in Onslow County, she was the daughter of Loren Aldred Jr. and Joyce Doty Aldred of Havelock.

    Melissa graduated with the class of 1989 from Havelock High School in Havelock, NC, and went on to attend Maryland University where she attained two Master’s degrees and one Bachelor’s degree.

    Melissa enjoyed candle-making as a hobby, and turned her hobby into a successful candle making business called “Not Just Candles” that she was very proud of. She and Vaiden loved to bowl and were part of a bowling league for many years.

    A memorial service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Sunday, September 12 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home just prior to the service.

    Surviving in addition to her parents are her daughters, Anastasia Marie Gandy of Selma, and Brittany Lynn Ku’upio Cup Choy and her father Bruce Henry Cup Choy of Four Oaks; son, Zachary Glenn Gandy of RAF Lakeheath UK; brother, Loren Aldred III and niece Isabella Aldred of Santa Rosa CA; Partner of 16 years, Charles Vaiden Strickland Jr. of Selma; grandchildren, Rose Pait, Edward Pait IV, and Winter Grice all of Selma, Mórrígan Mozingo and Walter Mozingo both of Four Oaks.
