Merle Bryant Snead

    Mrs. Merle Bryant Snead, age 87, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 at High-Smith Rainey Hospital in Fayetteville, NC. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM-Friday, November 26, 2021 at Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery outside Four Oaks, NC. Rev. Walter Gaskins will officiate.

    Mrs. Snead was born on December 4, 1933 to the late Milton C. and Ida Johnson Bryant. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Zeke Lee and David Garner Snead, brothers, Waylon Bryant and Harold Bryant; sisters, Ada Kelly and Eva Strickland; son-in-law, Harry Denton and a granddaughter-in-law, Brenda Warren.

    Mrs. Snead retired from the Johnston County Jail as a secretary. Mrs. Snead was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church outside Four Oaks. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and she loved others as herself. She enjoyed her garden, her birds, and her squirrels, and loved the smell of her giant gardenias. Each year she waited for the arrival of spring where her azaleas bloomed. Her delight was cooking for her family at holiday gatherings. She had a strong sense of serving the community by participating with cake donations for bake sales, fundraisers, and special events. Mrs. Snead was ever faithful to remember grieving neighbors with a meal, cake or pies. She exhibited her loved of her Lord by her quiet sprit and never speaking out of turn. She loved her neighbors and “Her children rise up and call her blessed of the Lord”. Proverbs 31:28.

    Surviving include her children, Jimmy and Donna Lee, Glenda Denton, Charlotte and Tommy Spradling, and Jane Batten; grandchildren, Joshua Lee and wife Kristen, Jordan Lasater and husband Brad, Jamie Warren, Angela Ingram and husband Chris, Barry Godwin and wife Linda, Tracie Core and husband Brian, and Melissa Woodell; many great-grandchildren; sister, Elgie Jackson and husband Jerry; brother, Linwood Bryant and wife Willa Dean; many nieces and nephews.

    Mrs. Snead will be available for viewing and you may sign the register book from 9:00AM-12:00PM- Friday, November 26, 2021 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC. The family will not be present during this time.

    In accordance with NC-COVID19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines. Mask are required for the graveside service on Friday.
