Michael Machado, 71, son of the late Michael and Alda Braga Machado passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019.
Michael received his undergraduate degree from The State University of New York at Buffalo and his MS from Buffalo State. Many years were spent in Buffalo, NY where he leaves behind several dear and faithful friends. Michael resided in Marietta, GA for 20 years and after a fulfilling career recently retired to Clayton, NC. His time was lovingly spent with his wife and family, filled with the joy that only grandchildren can bring. Michael enjoyed a close and enduring relationship with his daughters all through the years. His deep and abiding Catholic faith was an anchor in his life. Many have aptly described Michael as larger than life. His warmth, sense of humor, generosity and kindness will be missed by so many. One of his most enduring qualities was a genuine interest in and concern for others.
He is survived by his wife Marjie Machado; daughters, Megan Looney and husband Jeremy, Cara Snover and husband Chris; sisters, Barbara Efird and husband Jim, Betty Doster and husband Simms; a brother, David Machado and wife Robin; grandchildren, Noah, Libby, Caroline, Zach, Sam, Miah, Cailyn, Laura, Sarah, Mae, Jonathan, Mac and Emmie Rose; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Calvary Chapel Clayton at 2:00pm with Pastor Kevin Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 25, 2019 from 6:30 until 8:30 at McLaurin Funeral Home. A separate memorial service will be held in Marietta, GA in March at a time to be determined.
