Mrs. Myrna Loy Horton Barefoot, age 84, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM-Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Coats Community Church in Coats, NC. Rev. Chuck Jones and Rev. Tony Beasley will officiate. Burial will follow in Harnett Devotional Gardens, Dunn, NC.
Mrs. Barefoot was born on November 13, 1936 in Johnston County, NC to the late Garland and Theresa Register Horton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Barefoot, daughter, Tammy Barefoot Ennis, brother, Cortelle Horton and sisters, Maybelle Clay, Maxine Barefoot, and Peggy Barnes. Mrs. Barefoot was a farmer’s wife, homemaker, and an avid gardener. She was a member of Coats Community Church in Coats, NC.
Surviving include her daughters, Deborah Moody and husband Max; and Sharon Barefoot; grandchildren, Lucia Turlington and husband Kyle; Meghan Karwatt and husband Steven, and Joseph Castaldo; great-grandchildren, Luke Turlington and Guilianna Karwatt; sisters, LaRue Kearney, Gloria Allen, Evelyn Ferrell and husband Terry, and Delores Stewart and husband Ronnie; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends following the committal service at Harnett Devotional Gardens, Dunn, NC.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.
In accordance with NC-COVID19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W’s: wait, wash, and wear a face covering. Face coverings are not required. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers.
