Benson, NC: Mrs. Myrtle Blackmon Byrd, age 83, of Elevation Road passed away on May 22, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Graveside Services will be 2:00 PM -Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Roselawn Cemetery in Benson. Rev. Glenn McCullen will officiate.
Mrs. Byrd was born on October 28, 1937 in Johnston County to the late Richard H. and Vonnie Johnson Blackmon. She was preceded in death by her son, Robin Byrd. Mrs. Byrd retired from Bayer Industries and a member of Benson PFWB Church.
Surviving is her husband of 64 years, Claude Byrd, Jr.; son, Chris Byrd and wife, Tracey of Benson; daughter-in-law, Freda Byrd of Benson; grandchildren, Michelle Williams and husband, Michael, Kimberly Moore and husband, Brandon, and Kristen Byrd; great-grandchildren, Austin Williams and Carter Moore; sister, Evelyn Jones of Smithfield; brother, Ray Blackmon of Four Oaks; several nieces.
The family will receive friends from 12:30PM to 1:30PM Tuesday, May 25, 2021 prior to the graveside service at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.
In accordance with NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing and the three W’s: wait, wash, and wear a face covering.
