Smithfield- Myrtle Lois Holden Castleberry, age 84, died Sunday, July 16, 2017 in SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born August 24, 1932 in Wake County, she was one of 9 children born to the late Henry Plummer and Mary Mildred Rains Holden and was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Howell Castleberry; two brothers, Claude Holden and Robert Lummie “Buck” Holden; three sisters, Helon Cooke, Clara Belle Cooke, and Gracie Beck; and granddaughter, Kaci Lynn Castleberry. Myrtle was a member of First Christian Church in Smithfield.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in the First Christian Church with Rev. Beth Burton Williams officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Tuesday just prior to the service.
Surviving are her sons, Robin Gene Castleberry of Wendell and Tony Lynn Castleberry and wife Kim of Kenly; brother, Harold Holden and wife Jo; sisters, Ruby Pierce and Margie Parker and husband Melvin; and grandchildren, Kelly Sue Castleberry and Toby Lynn Castleberry.
