SMITHFIELD – Nina Oliver Lassiter, age 93, died Thursday evening, September 21, 2017 in the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, NC. Born December 14, 1923 in Johnston County to the late Festus Leroy and Sarah James Peedin Oliver, she was the widow of Cameron Albert Lassiter. A lifelong member of Sanders Chapel United Methodist Church, she was active in the United Methodist Women. Nina was also a member of the Pomona Creech Home Demonstration Club near her home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2017 in the Sanders Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brennan Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. just prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Surviving are her son, Terry Cameron Lassiter and wife Harriett of Four Oaks; two grandchildren, Chase Cameron Lassiter and Julia Charles “Charli” Simpson and husband Noah and a great grandson, Jack Simpson all of Morehead City.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Sanders Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4484 Brogden Road, Smithfield, NC 27577.
