Kenly – Ollie Mae Rodgers, age 81, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020, in UNC Johnston Health Hospital in Smithfield. She was born August 30, 1939, to the late Fred and Elsie Minshew in Wilson County. She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin Chester Rodgers, son Melvin Gary Rodgers, sisters, Juanita Hodges and Arminta Brown. During her life she was a member of Mount Nelson Baptist Church in Eureka. She worked in the public school system as a teacher’s assistant for many years, she loved working with children and being an educator. She also enjoyed working in her flower beds, cutting her grass, cooking, but most importantly she loved caring for her family. She was a wonderful mother to her two sons and a loving grandmother to her granddaughter.
The family will receive visitors and celebrate her life on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.
She is survived by her son, Adam Rodgers, and her beloved granddaughter, Miranda Rodgers.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
