Patricia Waters

    Birth Date: 04/06/1936
    Deceased Date: 08/27/2018

In the early morning hours of Monday, August 27, 2018, Patricia Hockaday Waters, a cherished and loved wife, mother, mema, great-grandmother and sister, made her final journey home. It is with heavy and saddened hearts that we must say goodbye but we rejoice in knowing that her earthly pain has ended and she is resting peacefully in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.
Born Patricia Jean Hockaday on April 6, 1936 in Angier, NC, she was the oldest child of Erwin Duke and Allene Ellis Hockaday. Her family moved to Clayton when she was 10 years old and she lived the remainder of her life on the farm she grew up on. On Sept. 18, 1954 she married the love of her life, Henry Franklin Waters, and they were just a few weeks shy of celebrating their 64th wedding anniversary.
“Miss Pat,” as she was affectionately known by many was an excellent seamstress and brought smiles to the faces of many young girls as she altered their prom dresses or made that wedding dresses fit “just right.” She also loved to garden and this was evidenced by the many beautiful flowers that adorned her yard year round.
Pat was a member of Amelia Christian Church and served in many roles over the years but the one she truly loved was playing the organ. We will miss her and the beautiful music that filled the sanctuary on Sunday mornings.
Pat is survived by her husband, H. Franklin Waters; daughters, Cathy Whitley and husband James of Lexington and Vicki Harris of Clayton; sisters, Janiffa Allen and husband Jerry of Clayton, Marshe Bourne of Gunbarrel City, TX; brother, Duke Hockaday and wife Florence of Clayton; grandchildren, Jennifer W. Ward and husband Dave of Harrisburg, Brandon Whitley and wife Rhiannon of Clemmons, Tyler Parrish and wife Jackie of Raleigh, Garrett Parrish and wife Maria of Norfolk, VA; great grandchildren, Carson, Ethan and Macie Whitley, Owen Ward, Marley Reeves and Lucy Parrish.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Amelia Christian Church at 2:00pm with entombment following at Pinecrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amelia Christian Church, 1696 Amelia Church Rd. Clayton, NC 27520. Online condolences may be made to the Waters family at www.mclaurinatpinecrest.com. Arrangements are with McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton.
