Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Paul William “Pete” Lassiter, III, age 85, of Black Creek Road passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC. Funeral Services will be held 3:00PM Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Four Oaks United Methodist Church in Four Oaks, NC. Rev. Adam Charville will officiate. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield, NC.
Mr. Lassiter was born on July 15, 1936 in Johnston County to the late Paul William and Irene Victoria Eason Lassiter. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Lassiter. Mr. Lassiter lived and worked on a dairy and tobacco farm his entire life, with the exception of time spent at college and in the US Army. Over his life he experienced every aspect of farming, ground preparation, planting, harvesting, market and management. Mr. Lassiter retired as a Senior Marketing Specialist and Assistant to the Chief of Standards in the Standardization and Review Branch of the Tobacco Programs Office in Washington DC. During this time, he travelled to other countries and taught the American Standard for tobacco quality. Mr. Lassiter was a member of the Four Oaks American Legion Post 346, and the Four Oaks United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities.
Surviving include his daughters, Paula Ricard and husband, Ron; and Deanne Mizner and husband, Eric; grandchildren, Lillian Ruth Mizner and Claire Elise Mizner all of Four Oaks, NC.
The family will receive friends from 1:15PM-2:45PM, Thursday, December 16, 2021 in the fellowship hall of the Four Oaks United Methodist Church in Four Oaks, NC.
