Micro – Nellie “Pearl” Holland, age 93, died early Thursday morning, August 26, 2021 in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born July 8, 1928 in Johnston County she was a daughter of the late Bernice and Cora Fields Hales. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percell Holland, Sr.; son, Percell Holland, Jr.; and 5 siblings, Grace Morris, Sam Hales, Jabo Hales, Monk Nichols, and Hattie Edgerton. Pearl was a long time member of Micro Original Free Will Baptist Church in Micro.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2021 in Micro OFWB Church with Rev. Duane Casey officiating. Burial will follow in Holland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the church just prior to the service.
Surviving are her grandsons, Patrick Holland of Glen Allen, VA and Lee Holland and wife Melinda of Micro, NC; great granddaughters, Madilyn Annette Holland and Emily Pearl Holland; sister, Pauline Bridgers; and brother, Cooper Hales.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Donnie and Rose Holland and many other family members for the love and care they provided Ms. Pearl over the years.
