Angier, NC: Mrs. Peggy Thornton Lassiter, age 88, of NC Hwy 50 North passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Springbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM, Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Benson Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Billy Cashwell will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Lassiter was born in Johnston County on October 7, 1933 to the late Jack and Mildred Benson Thornton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Benjamin Lassiter; and her son, Dennis Paul Lassiter; and a grandson, Chad Benjamin Creech; brothers, Marshall Thornton, Bobby Thornton, and Jerry Thornton. Mrs. Lassiter was a homemaker and a member of Benson Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving include her daughter, Ruth L. Creech and husband, Kenneth of Benson; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Lassiter of Angier; grandchildren, D. Keith Lassiter and wife, Angie, Stephanie R. Davis, and Shannon A. Creech and wife, Dorene; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Busby and husband, Bob of Smithfield; sister-in-law, Eunice Weaver and husband, Jay of Smithfield; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 10:45AM in the church sanctuary prior to the service and other times at the home of Kenneth and Ruth Creech, 436 Zack’s Mill Road Benson, NC 27504.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Benson Grove Baptist Church, 6966 Hwy 50 North Benson, NC 27504.
