    Peggy Tomlinson Deans, 87, of Goldsboro passed peacefully on Sunday, August 29th. Born September 12, 1933 in Wilson’s Mills NC in Johnston County. Peggy was the daughter of the late Wilton and Mary Grimsley Tomlinson.

    She was a devoted military wife and was married to the love of her life for 52 years, the late Charles F. Deans Sr., who served in the US Air Force for 23 years after which he entered the Civil Service and retired from the Department of Defense. Over the years, she has lived in North Carolina, Washington DC, Florida, New Mexico, and Okinawa. Peggy worked in Payroll and Human Resources and later retired as Office Manager for Coble Dairy in Goldsboro. She was also a member of the Rosewood First Baptist Church.

    Peggy was a loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She was vibrant, healthy, and very active up until her final days. She enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, walking, riding bikes, her beach home, fishing, bowling, bingo, playing cards with her weekly group, and enjoyed volunteering with her church as well as Meals on Wheels. She believed in learning something new every day and always being there to help family and friends.

    She was also preceded in death by her sister, Rosemary Benson, of Wilson’s Mills.

    The family will receive friends at Rosewood First Baptist Church in Rosewood at 11:00 am prior to the noon service. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery between Princeton and Goldsboro.

    Surviving are her son, Frank Deans and wife, Lisa, of Smithfield; her daughter, Becky Browne and her husband, Greg, of Charlotte; two sisters, Dorothy Ellis and Faye Norris of Clayton, two sisters-in-law Brenda Deans of Selma, and Marie Deans of Pine Level; grandchildren, Scott Deans and wife, Mandy, of Garner; Ashley Bauer and husband, Tom, of Garner; Rick Browne of Tampa, Florida; and Michael Browne of Charlotte; great-grandchildren, Tripp Deans of Garner; and Maddie Bauer of Garner.

    In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Family Life Center Building Fund of Rosewood First Baptist Church.
