Benson, NC: Mr. Phillip Dell “P.D.” Lucas, Sr., age 89, of N. Lincoln Street, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehab in Dunn, NC. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Monday, July 26, 2021 at Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Benson, NC. Rev. Glenn McCullen will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, in Benson, NC.
Mr. Lucas was born in Harnett County to the late Bernice and Etta Bell Lucas. He was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Ray “Tony” Lucas. Mr. Lucas was a retired distributor with Tom’s Snack Foods, and was a member of Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Benson, NC.
Surviving include his wife of 70 years, Jean Holmes Lucas; son, Phillip Dell Lucas, Jr., and wife, Gloria; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Lucas, Brent Lee Lucas, Spencer Anthony Lucas, Rodney Harris, Will Harris; five great-grandchildren; sister, Bernistine Dixon; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 1:00PM to 1:45PM on Monday, July 26, 2021, prior to the service at Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Benson, NC and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 205 E. Hill Street, Benson, NC 27504.
