Kenly – Rachel Daughtry Morgan, age 89, died Tuesday evening in the SECU Hospice House. Born March 10, 1928 in Johnston County to the late John Henry and Nettie Edwards Daughtry, she was the widow of Adrian Hooper Morgan and was preceded in death by her brothers, George Daughtry, John Hay Daughtry and Bud Daughtry. Rachel was a longtime member of the Sardis Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017 in Sunset Memorial Park with the Rev. Margaret Britt and the Rev. Don Dewberry officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
Surviving are her daughter, Myrtle C. Mitchell and husband Harvey of Kenly; step-son, Richard Morgan and wife Jane of Dunn; step-daughter, Glenda Oliver and husband Stan of Florida; six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to wither the SECU Hospice House, P. O. Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577 or the Sardis Baptist Church, 5444 Brogden Road Smithfield, NC 27577.
