Benson, NC: Raydel “ Ray” Alfonso Mena, age 61, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Memorial Services will be 11:00AM Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Gospel Tabernacle Activity Building in Dunn. Officiating will be Rev. Danielle Maynard. Immediately following the service the family will greet people at the home of Amanda and Shane Gaugh 113 Sycamore Court, Benson, NC 27504.
Ray was born on June 18, 1959 in Cuba to the late Reynol and Oilda Mena Alfonso. He was an auto mechanic for Crash Management in Benson. Ray had a passion for cars and loved restoring antique cars back to their original state. He was known to have a good heart, was a hard worker, funny, loved to joke around and tell stories. Ray’s greatest passion was the love for his daughter and her family most especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving include his daughter, Amanda Alfonso Gaugh and husband, Shane of Benson; son, R.J. Mehrer of Winter Garden, FL; grandchildren, Sheldon Gaugh, Scarlett Gaugh, Adeline Gaugh, Jameson Mehrer; brother, Rainol Alfonso of Hialeah, FL; beloved nieces and many family members.
