Rev. Eldridge Graham Dixon, 96, of Smithfield passed peacefully surrounded by his son and daughter through the pearly gates and is now sitting at Jesus’s feet and walking the streets of gold. Daddy was a devout Christian and loved God. He was ordained as a minister on June 8, 1955 and was pastor of many churches throughout his ministry. He loved playing one of his many guitars, playing the piano and singing. Throughout his years he played with gospel groups and visiting patients at nursing homes, playing music for them. He was currently the pianist at Smithfield Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was dedicated to until sickness and covid would not allow him to attend.
He proudly served his country in the US Navy, always saying he would do it again if he could. In World War II he served on the U.S.S. Beatty Destroyer. He retired from Burlington Industries after 40 years of employment.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021 in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens with Rev. Roger Banks and Rev. Gary Killebrew officiating. The public may pay their respects from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Friday at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. Family and friends will be received at 1108 Forbes Drive, Smithfield and 1079 Boyette Road, Four Oaks.
Graham was born August 19, 1925 to the late Othal and Lettie Dixon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn S. Dixon. Also preceded in death by brothers, Rev. Carl Dixon, A.J. (Bill) Dixon, Rev. Eumunes Dixon, Lamuel Lee Dixon, and Willis Dixon; sisters, Gertrude D. Parrish and Louise D. McLaurin.
Leaving to cherish his love and memories are son, Graylon (Carolyn) of Four Oaks; daughter, Bonnie D. Beasley of Smithfield; grandchildren, Pagelia Hinson (Michael), Kevin Beasley and April Mendenhall (Joe); and great grandchildren, Mackenzie Hinson, Tate and Gage Mendenhall; and sister, Velma D. Baldock of Chicago, IL.
