Robert Lee Colbert, age 90, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, a current resident of Smithfield, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019. Born in Rockingham County, Virginia on November 13, 1928, he was the son of the late Russell W. and Esther Dewell Lyon Colbert. Mr. Colbert was a real estate broker/developer who also taught school and coached High School athletics. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Colbert is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carol J. Colbert; sons, Lee Colbert and wife Alice of Smithfield, Kem Colbert and wife Sandra of West Point, VA; daughters, Katie Bertrand of Rochester, NY and Judy Wise of New Smyrna Beach, FL; sister, Deloris Parcell of Owens, KY; grandchildren, Beth Bertrand, Kelly Wise, Julie Duffy, Kemper Colbert, Lauren Alford, Kristyn Smith, Matt Wise, Mark Colbert, Trevor Bertrand and Kyle Colbert; and great grandchildren, Katelyn Duffy, Cameron Duffy and Owen Alford.
A private memorial service will be held in West Point, Virginia at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
