Smithfield- Robert Lee Stafford, Sr., age 84, passed away Saturday August 3, 2019. Born October 7, 1934 in Johnston County to the late Francis and Bessie Newson Stafford.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 AM Tuesday August 6, 2019 at Oakland Heights Cemetery in Smithfield, with Pastor Gene Dewitt officiating.
Mr. Stafford is survived by wife of 66 years, Emma Pilkington Stafford; Son, Robert Stafford Jr., and wife Wendy of Clayton; Daughters, Susan Anderson and husband Terry of Four Oaks, Cherry Peele and husband Alvin of Morehead City; Brothers, Eddie, Danny, and Stevie Ward; Sisters, Doris Barnes, Susie Barbrey, and Bessie Long; Six grandchildren; Eleven greatgrandchildren; Four great great grandchildren; Mr. Stafford was a member of Bakers Chapel Church and enjoyed playing bass guitar in gospel groups.
