Smithfield – Robert William Armstrong, age 83, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Born, February 19, 1938, in New Jersey, he was a son of the late William Armstrong and Helen Diech Armstrong. He is preceded in death by his wife Gloria Jean Stein Armstrong, brother, John Armstrong, and sister, Virginia Spaight. Robert was a strong Christian man and he proudly served God and Country in the United States Air Force. He was an engineer for Grumman in New York, he was a member of the Freemasons and he was a beekeeper in his spare time. He was a giving person and he loved animals, especially his pony, Puppy. However, most importantly he loved his family and friends.
He is survived by his children; Kenneth Armstrong (fiancée Nancy) of Sanford, Russell Armstrong (wife Rosalyn) of Clayton, and Bonnie Caracappa of Port Jefferson St., NY, sister, Linda Dauber of Winter Haven, FL, grandchildren, Cara-Jean, Kelsye, Joseph, William, Zachary, Rosine-Jean, Daniel, Julianna, Lucas and Gloria, many nieces and nephews, former wife and special friend, Sarah Camp.
