Rowdy Stevenson “Shot” Hill, 70, passed away at UNC Wayne Health on Saturday, March 28, 2020. He was born in Johnston County on October 7, 1949 to the late William Rowdy “Met” Hill and Mary Joyce Holt Hill. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by daughters, Loretta Steve Hill and Betsy Carol Hunnings; and a brother, Alvin Hill.
A private memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Leslie Holt officiating. Prior to the service the family will gather from 11:00 pm until 2:00 pm for a time of sharing with family and friends with certain restrictions related to the current COVID-19 situation.
He is survived by his wife, Nita Jones Hill; sons, Rowdy Hill of Princeton, Luke Hill of Benson, Moe Tate of Princeton and Justin Hunnings of Smithfield; daughters, Sherry Jo Hill of Selma, and Tonia Pate of Selma; brothers, Buddy Hill of Princeton, Shorty Hill of Smithfield, S. T. Hill of Smithfield, Button Hill of Princeton, Zipper Hill of Smithfield; sisters, Barbara “Tiny” Hill of Selma and Alice “Curly” Hill of Princeton; 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
