Benson, NC: Mr. Ruben Rivera, Sr., age 77, of 108 Valley View Way, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020 at his residence. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM-Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Benson Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Fellowship Community Cemetery, Angier, NC. Rev. Calvin Ramsey and Rev. Lewis Padilla will officiate.
Mr. Rivera was born on November 2, 1942 in Puerto Rico to the late Juan and Nicolasa Medina Rivera. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John Rivera and Julio Rivera. He was a renowned musician, composer, and enjoyed playing all types of music.
Surviving include his wife of 58 years, Gladys Gonzalez Rivera; children, Ruben Rivera, Jr., and wife, Shannon of Benson, and Irene Rivera-Brooks and husband, James of Benson; grandchildren, Rebecca Rivera, Samantha Brooks, and Areana Brooks; one great-grandson, William Nakutis, IV.
The family will receive friends from 1:30PM-2:45PM, Saturday, August 22, 2020 prior to the service at Benson Grove Baptist Church, 6966 NC HWY 50 North, Benson, NC 27504.
In accordance with NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W’s: wait, wash, and wear a face covering.
