Princeton – Rupert Eugene Peedin of Princeton passed on May 29, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Ann Sykes Peedin of the home; and son, David Peedin and wife Shana of Charlotte. He was a member of Pine Level Original Free Will Baptist Church.
Rupert was born in Johnston County on June 3, 1936. He was the son of the late Robert Amos and Mamie Parrish Peedin. Rupert graduated from Pine Level High School and attended the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. He graduated from Raleigh’s King’s Business College with a degree in accounting. Rupert was employed by Harris-Cuthrell, Inc., Rocky Mount for twenty-six years as accountant and Corporate Secretary. In 1995, Rupert joined the Johnston County Clerk of Court’s office as Deputy Clerk and retired in 2007.
Rupert is also survived by his brothers-in-law, John Sykes (Faye) and Tommy Sykes (Cathy) of Rocky Mount.
Rupert was active in his church and taught Sunday School for over 60 years. In his spare time he enjoyed working on his farm, reading the newspaper, watching UNC sports and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be conducted at Pine Level Original Free Will Baptist Church, 101 N Peedin Avenue, Pine Level, NC at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017 with the Rev. Howard Scott officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Thursday just prior to the service. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.
