Ruth Horne Bell, 53 of Garner, died suddenly at home on Saturday, September 22, 2018. She grew up in Wilmington, NC and was the daughter of Rev. Dr. Roger and Eleanor D. Horne. Ruth is survived by her husband Gregory Bell: son, Davis Bell; brother, Evans Horne of Smithfield; cousins, Sarah H. Edwards of Chapel Hill and Jennifer H. McMahan of Macon, GA; brother-in-law, David Bell of Wilson and numerous other cousins and relatives. She was employed with the NC Department of Revenue as a Project manager. Ruth was very active in her church where she served as an elder and a deacon.
The family will receive friends at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall in Smithfield Monday, September 24, 2018, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted in the church on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Joseph Hester.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to either the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 215 South 3rd Street, Smithfield, NC 27577 or the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
