Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Sarah Creech Moore, of 509 Tucker Street, passed peacefully Sunday, October 20 at the age of 91, in the company of her loving family. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Four Oaks. Officiating will be Rev. John Norman. Burial will follow in Four Oaks City Cemetery.
Mrs. Moore, a native of Four Oaks, was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Moore (a WWII veteran); birth mother, Lessie Lee; step-mother, Florence Turnage and father, Hervie Creech. She is survived by four children, Wayne, Melody Darlene, Pat and Shawn; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She has two surviving siblings, Willie Massengill of Dunn, NC and Faye Williams of Durham, NC.
After graduating from Four Oaks High School, Mrs. Moore married Robert Moore and moved to Maryland, where she attended Catonsville Community College, while working for the Social Security Administration. She sang in the Social Security Administration Choir and led the choir at her local church. Upon her return to Four Oaks in 1969, she attended Johnston Community College. Mrs. Moore was proprietor and head teacher for Mrs. Moore’s Play School until retirement, preparing three generations of children for elementary school over the years, teaching students both music and dance, in addition to reading and writing.
After retirement, Mrs. Moore continued to teach piano, guitar, and autoharp to neighborhood children and direct church and community choirs in several North Carolina towns. Mrs. Moore was a member of Four Oaks Baptist Church, where she was active in the choir, mission activities and Young at Heart. Teaching, playing music, singing, and serving the Lord were her greatest joys.
The family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks and other times at the home.
