Shirley Lane Pike was born to Wilbert O. Lane and Addie J. Lane in Johnston County, North Carolina on April 18, 1935. She married Delmas Ray Pike on February 5, 1955 and they raised three daughters together. Shirley was an entrepreneur, a realtor, a makeup artist, a hairstylist, and an active member of her church, but her favorite title was “Yaya”. In recent years, she found great joy sharing the message of her Heavenly Father through online ministries in which she was active. She was most recently a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Willow Spring, NC.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughters Angela Yvette Pike Johnson of Willow Spring, NC; and Del Rania Pike of Clayton, NC; as well as her sister Shelby Lane Teachy. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Teresa Pike Musser and husband David of Callaway, MD.; her granddaughter April Michelle Musser Brand and husband Leland of Alpharetta, Georgia; her great-granddaughter, Adeline Michelle Brand; and her sister Sally Lane Dillard and her husband Ted of Wake Forest, NC. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and adopted grandchildren that called her Yaya.
Above all else, Yaya would want to be remembered for her service to the Lord. From teaching Sunday school to counseling strangers through online ministries, she was a dedicated witness for the Lord. Her family will also remember her homemade buttermilk biscuits, her willingness to give children chocolate for breakfast, and her unwavering love for her family and many loyal friends across the world. Please join the family in a celebration of Shirley’s life at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, NC on Tuesday, September 21st. The family will receive visitors from 1 to 2pm followed by funeral services at 2pm in the Chapel with interment to follow at Selma Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome memorial contributions to Clayton Town Fire Department, P. O. Box 879, Clayton, NC 27528.
