    Shirley Lou Lee Williams, 88, of Smithfield, died suddenly on May 27, 2018. She was born on December 16, 1929, to Charles Wilson Lee and Mary Lou Gordon Lee of Four Oaks, NC. She graduated from Smithfield High School where she was an outstanding student and athlete. Shirley was named All County on the school’s championship women’s basketball team. She attended WCUNC, now UNC Greensboro, where she majored in business. She began her career as secretary for Cliff Cameron at Cameron-Brown Mortgage one of Raleigh’s most ethical companies.
    Shirley married Clinton Earl Williams of Smithfield. They had three sons and lived many years in Cary where they were members of McGregor Downs Country Club. Shirley won the women’s golf club championship there. Shirley enjoyed spending time at Long Beach where her husband built a beautiful cottage for her in just five days. After her husband’s death, Shirley returned to work to support her sons. She was employed in the bookkeeping department of NCSU until retirement.
    Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her brother Charles Lee, and her sister Jean Kasman. She is survived by her sons: Ted (Karen) of Snellville, GA, Phil of Raleigh, and David (Sherry) of Holly Springs; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters Ann (Richard) Huckenbeck of Clayton and Linda (Jim) Lynch of Concord, NC; her brother David (Joyce) Lee of Smithfield, her brother-in-law Walter Kasman of Bridgewater, NJ, and her sister-in-law Judy Lee. Shirley leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss her quick wit and ready smile.
    Living her life in deep devotion to the Lord, Shirley was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church (USA) wherever she lived. Her first and last church was First Presbyterian Church, Smithfield, which she joined on November 12, 1944.
    A visitation will be held Saturday, June 2, at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Smithfield, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Building Fund of First Presbyterian Church, Smithfield, 215 S. Third Street, Smithfield, NC 27577.
