FOUR OAKS – Stephen Michael Murphy, age 57, died Saturday morning in UNC Johnston Health of Smithfield. He was born March 16, 1961 in Johnston County to Geraldine Stevens Murphy of Smithfield and the late Claude Russell Murphy. Stephen worked in the Information Technology Department of the Johnston County Schools for more than 17 years. He was also a lifelong member of the Pisgah Baptist Church, where he served as caretaker and former Deacon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in the Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Vicky Murphy; son, Bradley Dale Murphy and wife Rachel of Louisburg; daughter, Devon Murphy of Four Oaks; brothers, Larry Murphy and wife Melynda of Clifton, TX and Ronald Murphy and wife Renee of Garner; special friends, Brenda and Steve Sasser and two grandchildren, Connor Murphy and Cora Murphy.
