Coats, NC: Mr. Thurman F. Garriss, age 84, of 2868 Erwin Chapel Road, Dunn, NC 28334, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Erwin Chapel PFWB Church, Dunn. Entombment will follow in Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn, NC. Officiating will be Revs. Danny Helms and Charles Price.
Mr. Garriss was born on October 6, 1936 in Pender County to the late Thurman W. and Elizabeth Leonard Garriss. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Byrd Garriss; and a brother, Stephen Garriss. Mr. Garriss was a retired high school math teacher from Harnett County. He was a member of Erwin Chapel PFWB Church and a US Army veteran.
Surviving are his children, Beth Page and husband, Craig of Dunn; Connie Beasley and husband, Ronnie of Benson; grandchildren, Brittany Coats and husband, Dustin; Dylan Page and wife, Leslie; Christopher Beasley; Tyler Page; Brandon Page; great-grandchildren, Fitz Coats and Christian Coats; brother, Raymond Garriss and wife, Linda of Wilmington; sister Sue Stinson and husband, John of Cary; special friend, Doris Register of Erwin; several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held 12:30 PM-1:45 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2021 prior to the service at Erwin Chapel PFWB Church. The family will not be present during this time.
The family will be receiving family and friends at the home of Mr. Garriss.
In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to Erwin Chapel PFWB Church, 135 Erwin Chapel Road, Dunn, NC 28334.
