Clayton – Timothy Person “Tim” Starling, age 65, died Wednesday evening in Rex Hospital. Born November 14, 1952 in Newport News, VA to the late Junior Person and Sadie Irene Deans Starling, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Ann Sealey. A 1971 graduate of Clayton High School, he received his B.S. from Western Carolina University, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Tim was an active member of the Hephzibah Baptist Church in Wendell, where he had served as Sunday school superintendent, a deacon, World Changers and also played on the church’s softball team. He also enjoyed woodworking in his shop.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2018 in the Hephzibah Baptist Church with the Rev. Aaron Wallace and the Rev. Norwood Starling officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton.
Surviving are his sons, Jonathan Starling and Michael Starling both of Raleigh and his sister Linda Starling Brown of Clayton.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Parrish Funeral Home in Selma and from 1:00 – 2:00 pm Sunday just prior to the service in the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Hephzibah Baptist Church Missions, 1794 Wendell Blvd., Wendell, NC 27591.
