Wake Forest – Tommy Sherrill West, age 75, died Sunday evening, September 23, 2018 at his home. He was born December 18, 1942 in Four Oaks, NC to the late Nathan R. and Shirley Nadine Batten West and was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Glenn Johnson. Tommy attended the Clinton Church of God and enjoyed reading, listening to Classical and Bluegrass music, bird watching and puzzles of all types especially crossword puzzles. Tommy was proud of the time he served in the US Air Force as a medic.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. Burial, with US Air Force honors, will follow in the Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends immediately prior to the service.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Stewart West; daughter, Barbara Jeanette West Matthews and her husband John Edward of Wake Forest; brother, Nathan Carlton West and wife Ann of Smithfield; sister, Janie Johnson Ellis and two step-grandchildren, Loren Matthews Blue and husband Yuri of Durham and Jessica Maria Matthews of Hampstead. Also surviving are four nieces and three nephews
