Smithfield – Troy Edward “Eddie” Sanders, age 77, died Tuesday afternoon in the SECU Hospice House. Born August 1, 1941 in Johnston County to the late Troy Alvin and Callie Lee Johnson Sanders, he was a heavy equipment operator with the Town of Smithfield. Eddie was a member of the River Oak Church of God in Selma.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Pastor Michelle Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Heights Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, of 32 years, Wanda Sue “Susie” Sanders; sons, Jeffrey Sanders of Archer’s Lodge and Jonathan Sanders and fiancée Aubrey Templeton of Smithfield; daughters, Pam Collins and husband Billy of Wake Forest and Dawn Briggs and husband Joe of Garner; sister, Frances Sanders Brown and husband Jessie of Smithfield and three grandchildren, Keenan Sanders, Austin Vojtko and Rebecca Briggs.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. The family would like to express a special Thank You to Ruth Williams and all the staff at SECU Hospice House.
