Velma Lee McLamb Wadsworth, age 87, died Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at her home. Born November 29, 1933 in Johnston County she was a daughter of the late James Wilbert and Lula Ingram McLamb. Velma was a member of Tee’s Chapel FWB Church, where she sang in the choir.
She was also a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary at Tee’s Chapel and American Legion Post 405 Auxiliary in Pine Level. Velma worked at Fieldcrest, Sylvania and later retired with Johnston County Public Schools after 18 years. After retirement she worked at Walmart as a greeter for 9 years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2021 in Tee’s Chapel FWB Church with Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday at the church just prior to the service.
Surivving are her daughter, Sharon Ann Wadsworth of Smithfield; brothers, Delma McLamb and wife Frances and Elmer McLamb and wife Judy, all of Smithfield; and sister, Thelma Peggy Hess and husband Gary of Landsdale, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wadsworth; son, John “Andy” Wadsworth; brothers, James McLamb, Joseph “Root” McLamb, C.L. McLamb and Wilbert “Buck” McLamb; and sister, Alma Cobb
