Wesley Conway “Popcorn” Brewer, Jr.

    Selma – Wesley Conway “Popcorn” Brewer, Jr., died Saturday afternoon at his home. Born January 31, 1936 in Selma, NC to the late Wesley Conway and Lula Carrol Brewer, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Jeanette Parrish Brewer, his granddaughter, Donita Simõne Williams and many brothers and sisters. Popcorn was a US Army veteran serving in Germany.

    The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Parrish Funeral Home, following COVID-19 guidelines. A graveside service, with military honors, will conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Price Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Cecil officiating.

    Surviving are his brother, W. L. Brewer and wife, Vernell of Selma; son, John Wesley and wife Mary of Virginia; daughters, Arlene “A.J.” Brewer of Smithfield and Terri Gilbert and husband Dean of Angier; grandchildren, Edward Williams and wife Lisa of Smithfield, Heather Brewer Shock and husband Jeffery of AL, Courtney Smith and husband Jordan of Coats, Joshua Gilbert and wife Tessa of Angier and Daniel Gilbert of Lillington and great-grandchildren, Conway and Madeline Williams, Samuel and Alexzander Smith, Watson Tate Gilbert; best friends, Jimmy Hales and Matt Long and many nieces and nephews.
