Willard Rudolph Davis, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Willard was born in Wayne County on December 30, 1933 to the late Stephen Bernice and Lola Whaley Davis. Willard proudly served his country in the United States Army. He attended the Hickory Gospel Center Church. Willard enjoyed spending time out his farm pond casting his line to catch fish. He had a great love for his two k-9 companions Cookie and Buddy.
A service to remember his life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 27, 2018 by the graveside at Kenly Cemetery with the Rev. Duane Evans officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside and at other times at his home.
Willard is survived by his loving wife of sixty three years, Joyce Rogerson Davis; sons, Willard Jeffrey Davis, Stephen Michael Davis, and Bobby Allen Davis all of Kenly; daughters, Sandy Laughinghouse and husband William of Kenly, Pam Darden of Kenly, Teresa Norwick and husband Brian of Michigan, Phyllis Grimsley of Lucama, and Tina Davis and special friend Henry Braxton of Kenly; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; sister, Gaynelle Jones of Kenly; and brother, Alton Owen Davis of Asheville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Davis, sister Aileen Barfield, and grandson, David Lee Grimsley.
