William Bernice Jernigan, age 66, died Monday morning in the Clayton House in Clayton. Born December 6, 1953 in Portsmouth, VA, he was a son of the late William Hicks and Goldie Rose Hocutt Jernigan. Billy served in the US Army as a Sergeant from 1975 – 1979.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside service, with military honors, will be conducted on Thursday, October 29, 2020 in Selma Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bobby Richardson officiating.
Surviving are his sons, Scott Jernigan, Hunter Jernigan and Rafe Jernigan; stepchildren, Josh Frasch, Ryan Frasch and Katie Frasch; sister, Debbie DeLaPorte and husband Steve; brothers, Timmy Jernigan and wife Teresa and Bryan Jernigan and wife Sharon; two grandsons, Chase Jernigan and Grant Jernigan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
