William Edward Sharpe

    William Edward Sharpe, Jr., 62 years old passed away unexpectedly at his home in Smithfield. He was born in Wilson County on December 17, 1958 to William “Bobby” Edward Sharpe, Sr. and Mary Ann Bunn Sharpe. In 1971 the family moved to Micro and William graduated with the class of 1977 from North Johnston High School. He is preceded in death by his father William Edward Sharpe, Sr., step father, Charles Franklin Warren and a nephew, Wayne Warren.

    William “Wild Bill” had numerous God given talents including a mind for construction and the ability to work with his hands as a skilled carpenter by trade. He was a commercial fisherman that enjoyed a good fishing hole. Later in life he could often be found down by the Neuse River fishing with “the boys”. William had a lighthearted sense of humor and a way with children. Mostly, he loved being a grandfather. William was a member of Carter’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and had an extensive knowledge of the Bible. His family loved him dearly.

    Mr. Sharpe is survived by mother, Mary Ann Warren of Micro; daughters, April Sharpe Sanders of Hubert, Ashley Sharpe Leathers and husband Zachary of Clayton, Amanda Sharpe Keith and husband Shawn of Galesburg, IL, Alison Sharpe Creech and husband Jordan of Kenly; brothers, Johnny Sharpe of Smithfield and Brad Sharpe and wife Teresa of Raleigh; sisters, Lori Sharpe Dixon and husband Greg of Selma; step brothers, Charles (Chuck) Warren and Kim of Micro, James (Jim) Warren of Smithfield, step sisters, Beletha (Bea) Soles of Micro, Mel Campbell and husband Jim of Oklahoma; grandchildren Kaleb Sanders, Keira Sanders, Grayson Wayne Leathers, Mary Charles Leathers, Isabelle Marie Keith, Emmalyn Marie Keith, Autumn Lynn Keith, Lillian Belle Keith, Emerson Gray Creech, several nephews and nieces.

    A funeral service will be conducted at Carter’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Selma on Thursday September 16, 2021 at 11 AM. The family will receive visitors at the church on Thursday from 10 AM to 11 AM. Burial will follow the service in the Church Cemetery. Additional visitation will be held at his mother’s home at 104 West Wilson Street, Micro, NC 27555

    Though flowers are acceptable, memorial donations may be made to Carter’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, P. O. Box 610, Selma, NC  27576.
